The Griggsville Apple Festival wants you to cook and compete in the 8th annual BBQ contest. No entry fee; this year. There will be cash prize money and trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall; 1st place in each category and 1st place People’s Choice.
Special thanks to Cargill Meat Solutions Corp., 8295 Arenzville Rd. Beardstown, who donated 2 cases of pork butts to help contestants with food to cook for the public. Electricity and water will be available to contestants. This event is scheduled for Saturday, September 20 on the boulevard in Griggsville. The Pittsfield Fall Festival will be Thursday, August 28 through Saturday, August 30 on the Court House lawn. Vendors may download applications by visiting the Pittsfield Fall Festival Facebook page at http://bit.ly/2014fallfestforms or an application can be sent by requesting one from Carla Terpstra. If interested in selling food items or a retail product, please contact Carla prior to sending in registration information. All crafters are welcome, however please do not bring rubber band, potato or marshmallow shooters. The Fall Festival Committee is also looking for acts to perform on Saturday, August 30. All interested individuals/groups must provide an audition video and set list NO LATER than July 20. Sets should be 30-45 minutes long (please indicate length on set list) and be of a “family show” nature (no profanity). This will be a paid gig. The 46th annual Pike County Pig Days is July 11-12 on courthouse grounds in Pittsfield. Members of Pittsfield Lions Club, organizers of the event, are in the final planning stages. Funds raised are funneled back to the community through various projects and organizations supported by the Lions Club.
Pork burgers will be available Friday, 10 am and throughout the day for $2. Western Illinois Pork Producers furnish the meat Friday and Saturday. Entertainment Friday night is “Stompin Ground”. Other entertainment will be announced later. Vendor space is available. Mark your calendars for the 46th annual Pike County Pig Days! Members of the Pittsfield Lions Club, organizers of the event, are in the final planning stages for the event July 11-12 on the courthouse grounds in Pittsfield.
The City of Pittsfield and sponsors from all around Pike County make this event possible, and funds raised during Pig Days are funneled back to our community through the various projects and organizations supported by the Pittsfield Lions Club. This favorite summertime tradition includes music and entertainment, Lions Club jump toys and kids rides, the Little Miss Piglet Contest, vendors on the square, kids’ games and activities, and lots of great food. Two highlights of Pike County Pig Days are the Pittsfield Lions Club’s famous pork sandwiches, which will be served on Saturday and the Little Miss Piglet Contest on Friday evening.
There is great entertainment planned for this year’s Pig Days. Stompin’ Ground will perform Friday night, an annual Pig Days tradition. Other entertainment will be announced later in June. There will be an antique tractor display again this year on the north side of the square, courtesy of the Western Illinois Tractor Club 2-4 pm Saturday.

Pearl will hold its 2014 July Celebration on July 5, 2014. Food will be served, a 50/05 drawing will be held, and there will be music, games and a silent auction.
