It’s that time of year again for the great Pike County Color Drive! This is the 26th year for the Color Drive and each year brings amazing things to see, do and eat. Nebo will be serving their famous fish sandwiches and selling apple butter this weekend! There will also be a petting zoo, pony rides, hay scramble and several vendors. Be sure to stop by the welcome booth for your stamp!
Lots to see in this small, idyllic town! Don’t pass through without stopping for some delicious food and great finds with antiques and finds at the old Odd Fellows Hall just west of the park and the great food vendors. Something for everyone in this picturesque spot!
Annual Color Drive Tent Service at the Pike County Fairgrounds Sunday, Oct 19 at 10 am. Join together with our church family for a time of praise and worship at the Pike County Fairgrounds as our community celebrates The Pike County Illinois Fall Color Drive
The Pearl Community Center will raffle a quilt and gift card at the Color Drive Oct 19. For more information, call Julia Hatcher at 217-829-4260 or Lois Stewart at 217-829-4430. The proceeds will be for purchasing Christmas lights.

Pittsfield FFA will be selling chili on the square.
East Pike Fire Protection District will be selling pork and BBQ brisket sandwiches on the square.
G-P FFA will be serving pork chops, ribeyes and pork burger sandwiches Saturday, Oct 18 and Sunday, Oct 19 at the Western Illinois Fairgrounds in Griggsville. They will also be serving biscuits & gravy each morning for breakfast along with coffee. Proceeds go to support the G-P FFA Leadership program and National FFA Convention. Drive-up and take out service will be available.
G-P FFA will host it’s 8th annual antique tractor show at the Western IL Fairgrounds Oct 18 & 19. Voting will take place Sunday and plaques will be awarded at 3:30. Tractors need to be in place by 9 am each day. Show one or both days. Call Chris Miller, Ag instructor, at 217-430-6970 for questions and more.
The Skinner House on North Stanford St. will be open Saturday, Oct 18 from 9 am to noon. Tour the historic house and museum room which contains Nellie Grant items and Page Hatch hand carved decoys. Homemade apple dumplings will be available.
On Saturday, November 8th, Team Impact / OTSD will have the Griggsville-Perry Craft Show. If anyone would like to be a vendor please contact Kayt Risley, 217-257-3848 or firstname.lastname@example.org. You can email the registration form to Kayt or stop by the high school. Registration fees are $25.00 (2 chairs included) & $5 carrying fee for help carrying items into the school.
Come join the fun this weekend at the Milton Corn Carnival! The fun kicks off Friday night with the Queen pageant at 5 pm. There will also be a flea market at the Community Center at the same time. The mayor will give his welcome at 6 pm with baby contest following at 6:05. Little Mr & Miss will be after the baby contest at 7 pm and Junior Miss will be at 7:30. Miss Corny will be crowned at 9 pm, and you certainly do NOT want to miss that pageant! Movies in the Park will follow the crowning of royalty with a showing of The Little Rascals Save the Day. Small towns often have the best parties, and there’s no party more fun than the Milton Corn Carnival! This year’s theme is “They’re Gonna Put Me in the Movies!” The Corn Carnival is always the fourth weekend in September. Events are held on the square in Milton. If you’re interested in being a contestant in the Corn Carnival Talent/Lip Sync Contest, call Sherri Howland at 217-723-4311 or Carla Allen at 217-723-4484. You may leave a message. The contest is Saturday, September 27 at 5:00 pm on the square. Grand prize is $500!! Also awards for People’s Choice and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. There will be a $2 entrance fee. More information to come. Deadline to enter is September 24.
Contestants for the Milton Corn Carnival Miss Corny Contest (set for 9:00 pm on Friday, Sept 26 on the square) can enter by calling Sherri Howland at 217-723-4311 or Carla Allen at 217-723-4484, you may also leave a message. This contest hasn’t been held for several years, let’s bring it back for lots of fun. Grand prize for winning is $100 and a beautiful crown!

Antique Tractor Pull : Saturday, Sept. 21 hosted by the Griggsville-Perry FFA at 1:30 pm. Unloading and registration is at Dunham’s lot along Hwy 107 across from the Western Illinois Fairgrounds. Registration begins at noon and will conclude by 1 pm. Entries will need 3 cards of the same information about the entry. Entries are welcome to unload any time that morning. Apple Dynasty Beard Contest : Friday, September 19. Prizes will be given out for longest beard, bushiest beard and sexiest stubble. Also best overall voted on by crowd response. To enter, call Janice Sneeden at 217-833-2637 or register that night.
Apple Pie Baking Contest : Pies must be in Mick Webel’s Country Financial Insurance office by 9 am for judging on September 20. Pies will be judged on appearance as well as taste. There will be two divisions: Age 7-15 and 16 through adult. Cash prizes given in each division for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

HCE “Christmas in October” sponsored by Pike County HCE is Oct, 11, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Farm Bureau Building, Pittsfield.

The Griggsville Apple Festival is looking for entries for its annual talent contest. The contest will be held Saturday, Sept. 20 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Jr. Division will be from 6:30-7 p.m., with a break for other activities, then the Sr. Division will resume around 8:15 p.m. Background music for vocalists will need to be provided to the committee by Thursday, Sept. 18. Griggsville Apple Festival Car and Bike show in downtown Griggsville. Special quest for the weekend is the Illinois Patriot Guard Fallen Heroes Traveling Memorial Wall. 100% of the proceeds from this show will be donated to the Fallen Heroes Memorial Wall and Toys for Tots. Registration is 8 a.m.-noon. Registration fee is $20 for cars/trucks and $15 for bikes. Judging begins at noon. Awards given for 1st and 2nd place in each class.
